The Festivities

Live Performances by The Boise Bard Players

Get a bite-sized piece of Shakespeare through our playful “roll script” performance, where two actors only know their own lines and their cues. Then enjoy a sneak peek of our upcoming production of Macbeth (May 9-19) with a scene from the show.

Music by the Boise High School Chamber Orchestra String Quartet

The Boise High School Chamber Orchestra is known for its exceptional talent and dedication, making it a gem within the local community. They’ve become a distinguished ensemble that Boise residents take pride in, often performing at various local events and venues. Their reputation for musical excellence reflects the vibrant culture in Boise, and how early one can find their passion in the arts.

Join The Boise Bard Players at the Bard’s Birthday Bash on April 27, 2024, as we mark a decade of bringing Shakespeare’s legacy to life around the Treasure Valley. Celebrate with us at MING Studios for an evening of performances, games, and delicious food as we raise money for our 2024 Season.

Celebrating Where We’ve Been and Where We’re Going

Our 5th annual gala not only honors the timeless Bard but also commemorates 10 years of unconventional Shakespeare performances.

That’s right! Artistic Director Chris Canfield put together a group of thespians to bring Macbeth to the Crux (remember them?) in 2014, and continued to produce at least one play a year until he established The Boise Bard Players as a nonprofit in 2018.

We are excited to kick off our 2024 season with our ten-year anniversary edition of Macbeth at Surel’s Place this May. Rounding out our season with Cymbeline and the commedia dell arte classic, The Servant of Two Masters, by Carlo Goldini, this year will be one to remember.

We can’t produce this season without your help.

In 2023, we set out to pay artists a working wage, AND WE SUCCEEDED. Each production, artists walked away with $900 stipends for their eight weeks of work. While this was a major accomplishment for BBP, it left us with a budgetary deficit at the end of the year. It is paramount for us to pay artists well for their craft while continuing to run the organizational operations necessary to bring classical theatre to the Valley.

Without proper funding, we run the risk of losing Boise locals to bigger markets. By helping us compensate them, you are directly supporting the entire Boise performing arts scene and helping our cultural economy thrive.

All proceeds go toward paying local artists fairly for their work so we can continue bringing phenomenal Shakespeare to the Treasure Valley at affordable prices.
