Plot Summary

Set against the backdrop of Vienna, Shakespeare’s “Measure for Measure” is a timeless exploration of morality, desire, and the complexities of justice.

This compelling drama unfolds as the Duke of Vienna, seeking to resolve moral panic, leaves the unfeeling Angelo in charge, who soon enforces the city’s long-dormant morality laws with an iron fist.

The play delves into themes of virtue and vice, as young Claudio is sentenced to death for impregnating his betrothed, Juliet, out of wedlock. His sister Isabella, a soon-to-be nun, is thrust into the center of political and emotional turmoil as she pleads for her brother’s life.

“Measure for Measure” challenges audiences with its poignant commentary on hypocrisy and mercy, wrapped in the Bard’s masterful blend of comic and tragic elements.

Join us at the Mad Swede Brewing Tasting Room in Boise to witness how these eternal conflicts unfold in one of Shakespeare’s most thought-provoking plays.

This group is absolute genius! Bringing Shakespeare to a street level performance! Locals performing the heights of the English language while using minimal pomp to evoke the emotions that drive us. Don’t miss the chance to see something incredibly amazing!

BRAVO to The Boise Bard Players! Sooooo much talent! They bring a fresh energy to their productions. Plus their unconventional locations let you be up close and personal.

Leta Harris Neustaedter

It was a new experience for me to be encouraged to take photos during a play, but The Boise Bard Players do quite a few things differently. Their spare productions in unusual locations are a throwback to how plays were often performed in Shakespeare’s time.

Dana Moon Long

BBP performs in the simplest of terms to create layers of richly dramatic conflict. Thank you BBP for challenging our preconceived notions of theater and creating another strong artistic voice in Boise.

Kyle Daniel Barrow

I love that BBP is mobile and performs in unique environments like the Old Pen, the Bishops’ House, and clients living in assisted living facilities, and I love supporting their mission to make Shakespeare accessible and affordable for our community.
