The Merry Wives of Windsor

William Shakespeare

The Boise Bard Players bring one of Shakespeare’s funniest comedies to the Treasure Valley this July. Come along for the ride as these Merry Wives exact revenge on the bumbling old knight, Sir John Falstaff, after he sends them each the same love letter!

Plot Summary

Of all Shakespeare’s comedies, The Merry Wives of Windsor is the one that most resembles a modern sitcom.

It all begins with John Falstaff’s plan to woo both Mistress Page and Mistress Ford by sending them each the same letter professing his love. When the women discover they received the same letter, they begin plotting revenge on the knight.

Meanwhile, the jealous Ford believes his wife to be unfaithful and sets out on his own plot to catch her in the act. Under the guise of “Master Brook,” Ford gets close to Falstaff to get proof.
