FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BOISE, Ida. — Step into the castle grounds of Elsinore with the Danish prince as The Boise Bard Players (BBP) put their spin on William Shakespeare’s Hamlet at the Old Idaho Penitentiary Women’s Ward. Between sword fights and a seven-foot-tall jet-black puppet of King Hamlet’s ghost, this will be a show audiences will not soon forget. Mad Swede Brewing will also be onsite with a limited edition English Special Bitter “ShakesBEER.”

Set in Denmark, this classic tragedy depicts Prince Hamlet and his attempts to exact revenge against his uncle, Claudius, who has murdered Hamlet’s father in order to seize his throne and marry Hamlet’s mother. Written 424 years ago, Hamlet is considered to be Shakespeare’s masterpiece and may be the most famous English-language play ever written.

The cast is led by BBP artistic director, Chris Canfield, as the title role. He is joined by Luke Massengill (Claudius), Patti O’Hara (Gertrude), Ben Kemper (Polonius), JZ Marrero (Horatio), Edith Dull (Ophelia), Declan Kempe (Laertes), Ab Jungen (Rosencrantz), Andres Maldonado (Guildenstern), and Mindy Hackler (Ensemble). Directed by Hayden Pedersen.

General admission tickets are $20 and include lawn and chair seating. Box seats are available for $200 and seat four comfortably. All performances are outdoors and will include a 15 minute intermission. There will be one matinee, closing out the show on April 16. All ticket proceeds go towards paying BBP artists a working wage.
